The Menu

Inspired by the Pima and Maricopa culture and cuisine, the menu at Hanyo at the River is carefully crafted by Executive Chef Thomas Riordan  to honor the region’s culture and delight contemporary palates with a signature mix of innovative Latin flavors and local ingredients. . Savory house-made ancho chile tortilla chips are perfect for dipping in Hanyo’s fresh, chunky guacamole or salsa. For a more decadent dip, guests gravitate to the green chile queso, a spicy blend of warm, creamy cheese mixed with green chiles. Hanyo’s take on nachos includes this delightful green chile queso along with stewed black beans, cilantro crema, and a jalapeno escabeche. Guests can also add one of the incredible house-smoked meats, like brisket or barbacoa, for extra flavor.

Main courses include chopped salad bowls, such as the Tortilla Bowl which is chock-full of healthy ingredients like black beans, avocado, romaine lettuce, jalapeno pico, and topped with an achiote lime dressing. You can also choose from an array of sandwiches, like the specialty Hanyo Burger.

Whatever you choose, top it all off with an assortment of tantalizing beverages. Cool off with a flavored frozen lemonade with a splash of Deep Eddy vodka, frozen daiquiris, or punchy coladas. Sip local beers or choose from a list of craft margaritas with top-shelf ingredients.

The Setting

With its location at Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass, Hanyo at the River is surrounded by the blooms of desert mesquite trees nestled along the banks of the Gila River. With its  floor-to-ceiling windows framed by natural wood accents, including a stunning ocotillo rib ceiling,  Hanyo sets a calming and peaceful tone. The spacious, air-conditioned dining room is perfect on hot days, allowing guests to enjoy uninterrupted views of the resort’s beautiful setting. 

On milder days, guests can dine outdoors on Hanyo’s casual patio overlooking the river or pool. In this uniquely Southwestern setting, diners enjoy attentive service under a canopy of mesquite trees while enjoying the quiet surrounding desert. And, with an outdoor bar, refills are never too far away.
